A Few Photographs

I recently had the opportunity to photograph a dear friend and her family…a four generation family to be exact. She brought her parents, her sons and their wives, and her grandchildren. Dressed in shades of blue with some white shirts and red hair bows thrown in, you could tell they were a family.

What really gives it away is spending time with them. The easy teasing, sweet kisses, and hugs all around tell you all that you need to know about this family.

But like most families, there is a lot more to it than that. My friend and I have known each other for nearly 25 years. Our kids were the same age and grew up together and we entered grandparent-hood fairly close together too. We met in one town, then I moved away, and now she has moved away. But we’ve been able to stay in touch with modern technology, and all.

What’s always impressed me about this family is how they have stuck together through thick and thin. Their story is their’s to tell but I can say there have been a lot of thicks and a lot of thins. Drawing strength from one another, from our Father, and from our friends, they have survived all that life has thrown at them. And on the other side, they are a little older, a little wiser, and a lot stronger.

It’s All About the Family

The Psalmist wrote,

Children are a heritage from the Lordoffspring a reward from him. Psalm 127:3

The testimony today is that for our families to remain strong, we have to hang tough sometimes. And love sometimes looks like hard choices and drawing boundaries and loving through some difficult times. But it always means loving.

And the reward of a strong family is worth it.
