Jesus is the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
An Old Hymn
I love an old hymn. One with moving words and music, not the bouncy style of certain songs that shall remain unnamed. A group I used to sing with called those “smurf songs” because you could almost see the bouncy ball following along with words!
Even though I lean towards a more contemporary worship song these days, I love a new song that uses an old hymn. One of my favorites is Cornerstone from Hillsong United. The verses are from the hymn, My Hope is Built on Nothing Less, and the chorus goes like this:
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Saviour’s love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all
Once rejected, God lifted Him up to the highest places. He is our hope, our Lord, our cornerstone. This verse reminds me to look no further than the Savior who has set me free. Because no one else’s power is seen in my own weakness. No one else sees me through every storm. He is indeed Lord of all.
