My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to me, because my name will be great among the nations,” says the Lord Almighty.
These verses in Malachi are interesting because they come in the middle of a rant from the Lord about how His people have treated Him. God has asked the prophet Malachi to tell His people that although He has loved them, they have not returned the love. He uses words like contempt and profane and says He is displeased and will no longer accept their offerings.
Whew! He is mad. And rightfully so. Because the children of Israel have consistently forgotten all that the Lord has done for them and turned away.
To Where the Sun Sets
But I’m reminded that I often do the same. And I need to remember that God’s name is going to continue to be great, regardless of what I do. He says He will be known from where the sun rises to where the sun sets. So I can be assured that the only one missing out when I am disobedient is me.
And I don’t want to miss out on anything the Lord has to offer us!
