Come, let us return to the Lord.
He has torn us to pieces
but he will heal us;
he has injured us
but he will bind up our wounds.
After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will restore us,
that we may live in his presence.
Let us acknowledge the Lord;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.
The Fire Inside
It’s been very dry where I live. We’ve listened every day to the fire reports and prayed for rain. Sometimes life is like that. The fire rages within as anger, bitterness, and discontent. While on the outside, the fire rages in brokenness, hurt, and lost dreams.
So we pray for rain. The rain that brings healing to a dry land. The rain that brings healing to a dry soul.
Praying for Winter Rains
God’s promise is that as surely as the sun rises, He will appear. He will come as the winter rains to water the earth, to quench the fire, to soothe and heal and quiet. So we pray for the rain.
As I’m writing, our first winter rain has arrived. Big fat flakes of white pouring out of the sky, blanketing everything in white. It’s fresh and cold and quiet. It soothes our souls as it forces us to slow down, even for just a little bit.
So today we pray again, come Lord Jesus, come.
